The topic of this year’s conference is The
Morality of War and Alternatives for Peace. We plan
to take a critical in-depth look at the moral values implicit
in a decision of whether a government initiates war. We will
also examine peaceful alternatives, such as inspections, to
preventing the spread of weapons of mass destruction.
We have some outstanding experts
already lined up to speak at this year’s event. The Rev.
Dr. Bob Edgar, Secretary General of the National Council of Churches,
former member of Congress and former President of a major seminary,
will preach for the Interfaith Service. speakers for
the afternoon conference include:
Scott Ritter, former UN Weapons Inspector and Team Leader in Iraq, and leading expert critic
of the Bush Administration’s preemptive war in Iraq
- Christopher Hedges, former New York Times
war correspondent and author

and Washington-based journalist and author.
