The topic of this year’s conference is The Morality of War and Alternatives for Peace. We plan to take a critical in-depth look at the moral values implicit in a decision of whether a government initiates war. We will also examine peaceful alternatives, such as inspections, to preventing the spread of weapons of mass destruction.

We have some outstanding experts already lined up to speak at this year’s event. The Rev. Dr. Bob Edgar, Secretary General of the National Council of Churches, former member of Congress and former President of a major seminary, will preach for the Interfaith Service. speakers for the afternoon conference include:

  • Scott RitterScott Ritter, former UN Weapons Inspector and Team Leader in Iraq, and leading expert critic of the Bush Administration’s preemptive war in Iraq
  • Christopher Hedges, former New York Times war correspondent and author
  • Wayne Madsen, former National Security Agency staffer and Washington-based journalist and author.
  • Grace Kennan Warnecke, Advisory Council, Kennan Institute,
    global leader of women’s empowerment; Official Observer, Ukraine elections.
