Coalition for Peace Action
Bucks & Eastern Montgomery Counties

The Greater Bucks Peace Circle invites the community to

New Year's Day
Prayers for Peace

January 1, 2008, from Noon - 1 p.m.

Yardley Friends Meeting, 65 N. Main  St., Yardley Borough

Once again the Greater Bucks Peace Circle, which includes a number of CFPA activists in Bucks County, invites the community to join them as they begin a New Year with Prayers for Peace.

Since we last gathered on January 1, 2007 and prayed specifically for peace in Israel/Palestine, something remarkable has happened. An interfaith peace delegation of 20 persons has come together here, consisting of Christians, Muslims, Jews and Unitarian Universalists. Half of us are from Bucks County, and half from adjacent counties.

God Willing (Insh'allah), on March 24, 2008 this group will embark on a "Compassionate Listening" journey to Israel and Palestine, led by Leah Green, who has led 20 previous delegations. She and her Palestinian counterpart will guide us in meetings with ordinary people, elected officials, religious leaders and others. She will teach us the highly developed methodology of compassionate listening.   We hope that when we return we will be able to share our experiences widely in this area and help (a) spread the knowledge of this new expression of nonviolence (b) promote the education of our neighbors about issues of war and peace in the Holy Land.

Please come and invite your family and friends!   This year the prayers will continue to focus largely on Israel/Palestine, but also on other areas of conflict and issues of peace (think Darfur, Somalia, the Congo and the countries of the African Great Lakes area, think Iraq, think about avoiding a U.S. war with Iran!)
