AN INTRODUCTION TO ISLAM
Friday night, Oct 26th, at 7:30 p.m.
Moorestown Friends Meetinghouse
118 Main Street, Moorestown
Free and open to the public
This presentation will be by Zia Rahman, an interesting and engaging speaker who has made many positive contributions to the community. In 1994, he co-founded the Islamic Center of South Jersey, with its Mosque in Palmyra. After retirement, and particularly after 9-11, he became instrumental in the successful effort to establish a Mosque in Voorhees Township.
The program is co-sponsored by the Meetinghouse, the First Baptist Church of Moorestown, and CFPA's Affiliate, the SJ Campaign for Peace and Justice. The program is free and open to the public, and will include a power point presentation, time for questions and answers, and if that isn’t enough, dessert and coffee/tea/juice. The presentation offers a good opportunity for us to learn a bit more about our Muslim neighbors in South Jersey.
Zia Rahman is an active member of the Human Relations Commission of Camden County, the Catholic Jewish Muslim Dialogue, and the Diocese of Camden's Racial Justice Committee. He also chairs the newly established Voorhees Township Citizen’s Cultural and Diversity Committee. He continues to conduct educational sessions to enhance understanding of Islam. Professionally, Mr. Rahman worked as an engineer for Rohm and Haas for over 30 years, serving as Director of Information Technology and Corporate IT Strategic Planning.
