25th
Anniversary
Memebership Dinner
Friday, April 1, 2005
Trinity Church • 33 Mercer St., Princeton, NJ
SAVE THE DATE OF
FRIDAY, APRIL 1! That
evening the Coalition’s
25th Anniversary Membership Dinner is scheduled
at Trinity Church in Princeton.
Keynote speaker for the
dinner will be Joseph Cirincione, a nonproliferation
expert with the
Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. Among
the honorees will be former New Jersey Governor
Jim Florio, who in 1990 initiated New Jersey’s
Assault Weapons Ban—which inspired the National
Assault Weapons Ban in 1994.
Tragically, the national
ban was allowed to expire in September 2004 by
Republican leaders in Congress
who refused to even bring its extension to a vote.
Thankfully, New Jersey’s ban, the strongest
such state law in the nation, remains in force.
We want to take this special opportunity to honor
Governor Florio for his courageous leadership. |

Come
and Hear a
Diverse Panel Discuss
Positive Interfaith Initiatives in our Region
|
These
are leaders who seek to use various faith traditions
to build bridges and understanding while uniting
to work for positive social change. They are doing
grassroots work to show that religion can be used
in a unifying, inclusive way to work together for
justice and peace.
Following
the panel, there will be opportunity to break
into small groups to learn more about
the initiative in which you are most interested.
The evening will then conclude with a “diversity
potluck*” celebrating the many religious
and ethnic traditions of those present. Let us
break bread together to celebrate diversity in
unity!
*Bring any dish from your
ethnic and/or religious tradition to share.
Please no pork, beef, shellfish, or alcohol. The
Church is located
just up the hill from the light at the intersection
of 206 and Cherry Hill Rd.

Second Anniversary
of
US Invasion of Iraq, March 19-20
The Coalition is in planning stages for events in conjunction
with the second anniversary of the US invasion of Iraq. A regional
action that will probably include Coalition for Peace Action
(CFPA) chapters and allies in central New Jersey and in Pennsylvania
is being planned for Sunday afternoon, March 20 on the bridge
between Lambertville and New Hope.
CFPA’s Students
for Peace affiliate is considering a demonstration in
Princeton on Saturday, March 19, and the
weekly peace vigil in Highland Park is also scheduled for
that day. In addition, there are three events planned in
southern New Jersey: in Woodstown, Cape-Atlantic, and Cherry
Hill Mall. For further information on the South Jersey events,
contact South Jersey Director, Norm Cohen, at (609) 601-8537

Lobby Day Scheduled for April 12, 2005 |
| The Coalition’s annual Peace Lobby Day to
Washington, D.C. is being planned for Tuesday, April
12 in conjunction with National Peace Action, the
Alliance for Nuclear Accountability, and Fellowship
of Reconciliation.
We plan to rent passenger van(s) to drive Coalition
supporters and allies from New Jersey and Pennsylvania
to DC the morning of April 12, returning the same
night. Before departure, all who sign up to come
will be provided with background materials. Upon
arrival at about noon, we’ll be briefed while
we eat brown bag lunches on the latest information
about legislation regarding new US nuclear weapons,
Iraq, and other important issues.
The delegation will then divide itself up to cover
appointments with offices of New Jersey and Pennsylvania
Senators and Representatives during the afternoon.
At the end of the afternoon, we’ll drive
back to Pennsylvania and New Jersey in the van(s),
arriving between 10:00 and 11:00 pm. You only have
to miss one day of work to participate.
This is an empowering experience, one that we
highly recommend to all our members and supporters.
The only cost involved is a share of the van costs,
estimated at about $30 per passenger. Scholarships
available – contact the Coalition office.

609-924-5022 to make your reservation!
