New Jersey Students for Peace (SFP), the student affiliate of the Coalition for Peace Action, are presenting their third Peace Fest and featuring four local high school bands, Goosey, Retrospect, 2 little girls, and Scott Nanos.
In addition to music, there will be fantastic food and crafts, including Henna tattoos. Everyone will be invited to decorate a peace flag, make T-shirts, and add a signature to a banner saying “America’s Youth Want Peace.” Petitions and information handouts will also be available. Mark Danner, who will speak November 9, has been reporting on and writing about foreign affairs for twenty years. A longtime staff writer at The New Yorker and a regular contributor to The New York Review of Books, Danner has covered Central America, Haiti, the Balkans and Iraq. His work has been honored with a National Magazine Award, two overseas press awards, and an Emmy. He is Professor of Journalism at the University of California at Berkeley and Henry R. Luce Professor of Human Rights and Journalism at Bard College. His work is archived at markdanner.com

Military Recruitment in the Community and Schools

A panel of speakers, with representatives from the military, conscientious objectors, constitutional lawyers, medical practictioners and high school students, will address military recruitment of young adults in and outside of schools. Everyone is invited to join in the discussion that follows.
The documentary, Before You Enlist, produced by Princeton-based Telequest Inc., will also be shown. The Coalition for Peace Action is the Regional Sponsor of Before You Enlist.
