On Saturday, April 29, the Coalition for Peace Action (CFPA) co-led a bus to the People's Climate March in Washington, D.C. Over 200,000 people marched to support clean energy policy and climate justice. CFPA was one of several groups to participate in the "Peace Hub" of the March, a section comprised of various peace organizations. The goals of the March intersected with those of CFPA's No Wars No Warming campaign.
On the same date, PA Director Ed Aguilar and several members of CFPA's Saint Joseph's University Student Chapter attended a "sister march" in Philadelphia.

On April 22 the Coalition for Peace Action co-sponsored the NJ March for Science in Trenton, NJ. This March coincided with a national march in Washington, and numerous satellite marches across the country. Participants marched to bring attention to important issues seen as threatening the safety of our fellow citizens, our state, our national character, and the endeavor of scientific exploration.
On April 5, the Saint Joseph's University Chapter of the Coalition for Peace Action held a nuclear panel event, "Nukes and Nuggets," sponsored partially by the university's International Relations Program. The panel figured three key speakers: Dr. Frank von Hippel Dr. Zia Mian, and Ed Aguilar. Dr. von Hippel discussed the prevalence and vastness of nuclear stockpiles and the dangers of nuclear weapons. Dr. Mian argued that abolition is the only viable solution to the nuclear issue and touched upon the UN Nuclear Abolition Conference. Finally, Ed Aguilar discussed the potential dangers of nuclear energy plants resulting from the industry's carelessness and the government's "blind eye" to this irresponsible practice. The event was largely successful and had a turn out of over 45 students, faulty, and community members, and of course nuggets were served and enjoyed! CFPA SJU is looking forward to their next event on April 26th, when they will be showing Groundswell Rising (director Mark Lichty will be in attendance).

On Monday, April 3 the Coalition for Peace Action (CFPA) briefed candidate Jim Johnson (D) who is running to be the Democratic nominee in the 2017 NJ Governor's race. Mr. Johnson (center in the first picture below) was briefed by CFPA leaders and experts on the issues of verified voting, gun violence, and climate change.

The Coalition for Peace Action (CFPA) is a grassroots citizens' organization bringing together people of all ages, backgrounds, professions and political persuasions around three goals: global abolition of nuclear weapons, a peace economy and a halt to weapons trafficking at home and abroad.
