All CFPA supporters are asked to renew their membership or join early each year. Renewing members can save postage costs by renewing online by this Friday, January 13!
Dear Coalition for Peace Action (CFPA) contact,
I'm writing to request your 2017 annual membership contribution to support the urgent and very challenging work of the Coalition for Peace Action (CFPA).
CFPA asks all members to renew, and others to join, early each year. Receiving membership dues early in the year greatly helps with our budgeting and cash flow. So please renew NOW by clicking here to renew online.
We face great challenges in this New Year, as President-Elect Trump is about to be inaugurated. Not only have his pronouncements since the Election been divisive and alarming, but his appointments have confirmed that he is serious about pursuing anti-peace, extremist policies!
We need to work intensively to protect diplomatic success like the Iran Nuclear Agreement. That hard won agreement, only one year past its implementation, is now in danger of being undermined. We need your help to preserve this major victory for Diplomacy, Not War with Iran!
We must prevent a new nuclear arms race, which was the theme of our 37th Annual Conference and Multifaith Service for Peace. We must stop a proposed $1 trillion US nuclear build-up. President-elect Trump has issued reckless tweets threatening a new arms race, even before his inauguration!
We also need to resist President-elect Trump’s proposed major increase in military spending, estimated to be $100 billion per year. If history has taught us anything, it’s that most international conflicts can’t be solved by military force. We need those billions for urgent domestic needs!
Finally, we need to strengthen our Ceasefire NJ Project (CFNJ) to build support for sensible regulations to reduce gun violence. On January 9, Gov. Christie signed a bill to keep guns away from domestic abusers after CFNJ coordinated nearly unanimous bipartisan passage in the NJ Legislature! We need your support to build on such successes!
As a special appreciation for renewing NOW, we will send you CFPA’s attractive new bumper sticker (see above)! It will look wonderful on your car, and help spread our message of peace—including our website address!
To meet the above challenges, we need to increase our financial strength by asking you to increase your contribution. One option is a Lifetime Membership for a one time contribution of $1,000.
You can also increase your support by becoming a monthly or quarterly pledger. Pledging is an easy, efficient, and less demanding way to substantially increase your support for the work of CFPA while offering sustained cash flow through the year, by spreading your donation over time.
Click and use the option on the right to make your monthly or quarterly pledge charged to your Visa, MasterCard, American Express, or Discover Card. If you later need to adjust or discontinue your pledge, just contact our office.
However, if you simply can’t become a Lifetime member or pledger, click and use the option on the left to contribute your annual membership NOW!
CFPA’s suggested annual membership contribution is increasing modestly for the first time in decades, to $50 for an individual and $80 for a household. Our sliding scale option, after these suggested dues, remains. We don’t want anyone to not be a member if they can’t afford the suggested dues!
We also encourage you to click here to make a tax deductible contribution over and above the membership—which would really help us address the increased challenges described above.
Pledges, donations, and memberships are essential to giving us the finances and political clout to maximize our impact for peace. In numerous contacts with elected representatives, candidates, and the press over the past four decades, I’ve frequently been asked how many paid members we have. It is a key measure of our collective credibility and power.
Your pledge or membership offers unique benefits. You’ll be sent Coalition Update, our periodic newsletter, have the opportunity to register for member-only events like the Annual Membership Dinner, and be eligible for substantial member discounts for CFPA events like the November 12, 2017 Annual Conference and Multifaith Service for Peace with Professors Noam Chomsky and Reza Aslan.
Given the major increased challenges in this New Year, we need your help to intensify our organizing to protect our successes and meet major new challenges. We can only do this if we each do our part, by responding as generously as possible.
